Have you tested the Spotify Ads Pixel? Any guide on "how to"? Cant find anything on the entire Tube about this?

Hey Tom! I have a question! I’ve been running a fb ads traffic campaign directed to Spotify. I’ve been getting a ton of link clicks but unfortunately it rarely translates to a stream. In about every 20/30 clicks I get 3/4 streams. I’m just targeting one country (Portugal) which is a tier 1 country so I ruled out the bots possibility. I’ve also set the interests to Spotify, but I’ve been wondering: is it possibly that the ad is reaching people that don’t have Spotify, thus the low stream numbers? I’m very confused about all this

I need some kind of catch to get these people to start watching my videos! UA-cam is my smallest following! spotify 2350 and counting, soundcloud 1300 plus youtube, 34! Im not sure what the hell im doing wrong but im just going to keep plugging away!

Good points, it all starts with a song. I think the marketing dudes take things way too literal, listeners have no problems identifying with the “I” in a first person pow song, that’s the common ground. We are all “I”s, and live from the inside, audience can certainly emphatize with that. It keeps it real, which justifies a deeper connection.

Great video! - 🤩 - I just discovered Spotify 'Clips' yesterday. 30 second videos. I thought... well that sounds like fun... but for a boring instrumentalist in a 'peaceful piano' genre, I was thinking... like what type of video would appeal? My standard Instagram videos wouldn't work. So, I want them to FEEL what I was thinking when I wrote the piece? But they might be thinking something completely different... It's hard. The Spotify clips that "I" like best are short little 3 second snippets all tied together type of thing. Generally taken from the long form UA-cam video. - But I don't want to be in the video, I think that would be boring. Lots to think about. Plus, I don't think most listeners know about 'clips' yet. But I could be wrong. 🤨

Spotify currently pays $0.04 per 10 streams, so even though there are a super small minority of people who will make a fortune from streaming, the honest truth is that most people won’t even come close to recovering their ad spend to generate streams. Just keeping it real. Do some gigs and sell some merch if you want to be able to buy more than a can of beans from your musical output. Everything in this video is completely valid, but the realistic outlook for not losing money pursuing a career in music is highly unlikely. I managed to make a decent living from music for 10 years playing very large gigs and constant touring, but it was a hard slog with many personal sacrifices. Bottom line - make music for the love of it without preconceived expectations.

What sort of KPIs should we be looking at as bench marks for example per follower cost etc?

Just so you know meta link clicks don't mean anything. I've had days with 300+ clicks and only 30 streams that day, so doesn't add up at all.

im having so many issues...and spotify isnt helping.. im a marketing manager by profession and as im promoting my music, the campaigns are HELLA successful. CTR or 10% and CPC of 0.20..7000 people clicked onto the link that takes them straight to the songs to stream them. for 5 days, no updates on spotify. just declining numbers on SFA. and the support them is useless. i see so many people havin these issues. Tom, do you know how to fix it?

I had a question regarding this topic and of course Tom had an great video on it! (although I'm still trying to figure out a workaround) I started a conversion campaign on Thursday that has been crazy high performing. (teir 1 countries only) In 4 days it had gotten 205 link clicks at 9 cents per click. But in hyppedit, it had only gotten 12 clicks into Spotify???? This is odd, especially considering other campaigns I've done. So, my first inclination was to get rid of the middleman and take out the landing page to direct people straight to Spotify to avoid deliberation. I don't really care about getting analytics outside of Spotify for artists so I went ahead and changed the link to the song and republished. Does anyone advise against this?

hey quick ? around the 13:00 mark . so are you saying if I were to run an engagement campaign optimizing for tru views on a reel and i add tier 2 countries in there. those will be bottled thru views too?

I have an ad prepared, but I realized that clicking on spotify from Instagram or Facebook does not open the Spotify App, it directs it to the "Download app" page. I have tested it on different devices and it is really inconsistent, like sometimes it opens the Spotify app on intagram but not in Facebook, sometimes in both, sometimes neither of them.

I was literally wondering if I could find any test for this. In my case I'm about to run fb ads for an instrumental ambient music playlist. Most of our audience right now is in tier 1 countries. However we just released a single with a label that own big playlists and surprise surprise all our listeners for that release have skyrocketed the audiences of Brazil, Mexico and Turkey. So in regards to run our own ads shall we just stick to tier 1 countries? The spotify payout from those tier 2 and 3 countries is so low that I'm not sure it's even worth targeting them. But I guess it all depends how much of a difference the fb ads CPM and CPC are right? What do you suggest? Cheers!

THANK YOU SO MUCH YOU ARE AMAZING! I always receive an admirable amount of traffic and link clicks, but no new listeners show up on my Spotify. Not even one. And I haven't been able to find a solution for this heartache (yes, the countries are outside of your list). You have indeed saved me from many upcoming heartaches.

This is very very helpful. As a LATAM resident and VPN consumer (rubbing hands with evil smile), this seems to be, as you mention, a safe way to start, specially if you're like me who never did ads campaigns. Now I feel confident to sell my organs and spend that money well. Thank you 😁🤍

Funny thing is Morocco has been by far our best performer for plays, but I think they must like the saxophone there, as it is prominent in our best performing song, but for playlist adds the US seems the highest.

Hi Tom, Thanks for this great and informative video! Using conversion campagins, if you were just starting out as an artist, would you target T2 countries like MX,BZ,AR in order to get more listeners for the amount of money spent? I can pay like 20$ over 4 days to get 15-20 conversions in T1 countries, which is pretty expensive! If a higher number of individual listeners increases the chances of triggering the Spotify's algorithm it makes sense to target cheaper countries to get more momentum?
